Keeping A Log (cont.)

they happen, they'll get away from you. It's fun to be able to read over your notes the next winter or years afterward . Some time in the future you might want to guide your own group over the same route.

Description of each campsite, the length of each carry and what it was like, the weather, the place where you caught all the fish - these are some of the items you can jot down. And then there will be the extra-special experiences, like seeing the moose or tipping over at the landing because you forgot to keep your weight on the center line as you unloaded the canoe.

With a map marked to show your route and the location of each camp, your notes will keep the trip always fresh for you. And think how much better you can tell your parents and friend s a bout your adventures !
